Speaking at the USC Marshall School of Business on Entropia Universe
Tomorrow, Sept. 28th, 2007, I will be on a panel about Entrepreneurs and Computer Gaming at the Business of Gaming on campus at USC. If you’re an Entropian and you’d like to share your entropia-neurial story with me, I’d love to hear it. This won’t be the last time it is relevant, believe me! I am excited to be on this particular panel as we at Entropia have something unique to share. Not only can I talk about being an entrepreneur in the computer games space. I can talk about partnering with Entropia Universe and creating your own planet with our platform, which includes CryEngine now, like CRD/China is doing. I can also talk about being an Entrepreneur inside Entropia Universe. From picking up dung, to buying a banking license. I think that’s fascinating and very cool. I’ll be posting from there as long as the Internet connection works!

I hope you will remember to mention that a huge bunch of your so called “player base” is concidering to leave. Please show them how the auction starting to get crowded with stuff from people who plan to leave. Tell how the most skilled crafters who had planned to start living from EU now have another oppinion…

Hi Mr. Bates,
I think it is great to have a virtual evangelist for our game. Your professional credentials will speak volumes to people considering getting into a RCE MMO. How often are you in the game, and how long do you play at a time? I know I have spent 12 hour stretches because of my enjoyment there, and I am generally there everyday. I also wanted to know your feelings on the Entropian community. I know that it is a very strong pastime for most of the Entropians. It is amazing how they have pulled together to help each other out in times of need. Do you frequent, www.entropiaforum.com or www.entropiareality.com?

YellowStar, I apologize for taking so long to respond. I don’t get to be in-world as much as I would like - a few times a week, if I am lucky. I have spent long stretches in Entropia and I find it easy to lose track of time while there. It is an amazing world and I love the diversity and complexity and I particularly love going hunting with another player and cooperating.
My feeling about the Entropia Community is that the people who comprise it are largely very generous, very intelligent and creative. Although it’s anecdotal, I think we have a very high proportion of above average IQ folks and a high proportion of entrepreneurial, creative people. I do visit www.entropiaforum.com, www.realityport.com, www.entropiareality.com and many of the others as often as I can. I think they are living proof of what I believe about the Entropia Community. I am very excited and honored to be working with Mindark and representing Entropia Universe.
As a final note, I believe that over the last 6 months Entropia Universe has really proven itself to the community of 3D enthusiasts I know (and probably the US/world at large). Whereas a year ago most of them hadn’t really heard of Entropia, this year most of them are very impressed, think Entropia is the future of MMO and they give us lots of props for what we have accomplished and our big announcements of 2007. It is gratifying.

Patrick, I posted your comment, but I want to say that I don’t see much positive in it. I welcome suggestions to better Entropia Universe, but your comment is merely complaint and obfuscation at this point. Please feel free to let me know what your underlying commitment is - I think complaints usually cover up commitments to better things. Actually, things in Entropia Universe have never been better and I think the new look, as well as the new features are being well received. Thank you for being interested and caring about Entropia Universe. I’m on your team.
